Prob $100 on spindles. Still less than new :D. I'd wait for a holiday for free shipping from All-pro for the expos.

Shit, If you could get all of that securely strapped down on a pallet and dropped off at fastenal, I bet it'd be about $150 for all of it shipped (If fastenal operates out there, not sure?) lol. GLWS though.

Back on topic, I think spindle lifts are great for prerunners. They keep the factory geometry and allow you to put factory height springs that allow for a softer ride than most lift springs and still get a 4" lift or you could stack them with say, some OME 885's on 5100's and get 7" of lift.

Gross... a mall crawler :D To each his own I suppose. But for what it's worth, I would also recommend just going with a DB lift, I can't imagine the prices will be that different considering all the stuff everyone's said you'll need with the spindles. Just my .02 though

All that you NEED with spindles is extended brake lines. So lets call it $750 shipped for a factory riding 4" lift for the front.

Yea for the front like you said, and I mean he should definitely be doing it right the first time, which means going further than what he "needs." Like you don't need new UCA's when you lift with let's say an icon or OME lift, but it's a very good idea.

In my opinion, do it right the first time. But I mean, I hate anything higher then 3 inches of lift on tacomas because it isn't practical generally. But again, just my opinion :D

Uca's aren't needed at all with spindles, it would be like putting aftermarket uca's on a non-lifted tacoma. The Uca's are to correct the suspension geometry, which is not necessary since the spindles keep factory geometry. Just spindles and brake lines is doing it 100% right.

But if you're so for "doing it right the first time" then why are you on a 2.5" spacer lift? Just curious. Kinda contradicting yourself there.

    1. I was using the UCA's with my example of doing it right with a different setup like OME or icon. I don't know all the specifics about spindles but I'd go further than the basics that you need to get the lift done.

    2. I'm completely honest in my mistake for buying spacers, if you read whatever you read to find that out, I'm sure you'd notice I'm upgrading to an OME setup. My stuffs in the garage but I haven't put it on yet.

    3. It's not contradiction if I'm aware of my mistake and now adamant about doing it right the first time. Sooooooo what's your problem? You seem really upset. If you look at the title of the thread, it says "Thoughts on spindle lifts?," and my thoughts are not to get em

When people ask for thoughts, the implied task is informed thoughts.

Besides a long travel suspension system, there's no better suspension system for a two wheel drive than a spindle lift. Maintains factory ride while gaining pure ground clearance (no drop bracket). No permanent modification to the vehicle, unlike some DB lifts that require welding the DB in place.

The purpose of a UCA on a mid-travel lift is to bring the camber back in spec. That's not an issue with the spindle lift. The additional travel gained (which is minimal and requires coil overs to gain) is of no use to a guy who states he will not offroad the truck, and the heims will just wear out faster than ball joints and are prone to be noisy.

And lastly, (multiple) mostly stock trucks that cruise dirt roads look silly when they start throwing out the terms "mall crawler" and "pavement princess". If AAA will come rescue you, you're not offroad - despite what they put on the bill. The man just wants to lift his vehicle for looks - there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm not upset in the least bit, I was just trying stating what I knew on the subject at hand. I was throwing it out there that spindles were all thats necessary and especially if no serious offroad is done, there is no reason to go over-kill with upgrading every little piece along with spindles. They are an easier and less permanent modification than a DB lift. As far as your spacer lift goes, I commend you for admitting mistake and replacing them with an OME setup, I didn't go any farther into you other than the mods that popped up when I scrolled over by your name. I'm not here to get in a dick measuring contest or argue. Just trying to discuss opinions on spindle lift and was waiting on you to say why you thought a DB would be better than a spindle lift for a 2wd.

Lol. You're fine. I was kinda being a dick, sorry about that. Engineering and Calculus work were starting to piss me off so I got on here and I guess released some anger. But my dick is definitely the biggest.

I currently have a 4 inch spindle lift on my tackle for the front but I also have some 4.5 inch strut spacers I was thinking about adding. Does anyone know if it will work even though I already have the extended spindle ?
