I love mine but they don't last nearly as long as the KO1's did, but I think the KO'2 grip better offroad for sure

I have been running mine for about 7K, they still look and ride nice with no issues. Decent on ice, might try the General Grabbers next round.

275/70/17. Best looking all terrain, wear well, good for anything I need them for

I had KO's prior to my KO2's until a road hazzard sliced through the tread all the way to a belt. I had put around 25K on the KO's prior to that and I feel my KO2's have worn better. Discount tire/BFG was a lifesaver on that being the KO's were discontinued, they prorated all four tires and I had to pay 350$ for a new set of KO2's.

I do feel my next tires will be the falken AT3's or maybe I'll go back to a 255 KM2.....

Interesting. I'll be snagging some new all-terrains this spring, and the classic look and tried-and-true rep of the KO2s is tempting, but I'll also probably end up getting the Cooper AT3s, namely because, like you mentioned, they're almost impossibly inexpensive for being USA-made, and the 235/85s are much lighter than the BFGs in the same size. I had those on my 4runner in P-metric form and I got 65k out of them with no punctures, and they still had some tread when I sold the truck. I'd expect the E-rated ones with the extra tread depth to wear like iron.

Have about 55K on my 265/70/17 C load KO2's. They were great for about the first 30K and shortly after that, I noticed they would slip pretty consistently on wet pavement, especially from a stop. They are pretty terrible now, and I actually have to be very careful when accelerating from a stop. I don't have a lead foot and keep them at about 29 PSI, so I'm not sure what the deal is but I haven't been too stoked on them. Two things I can think, are not rotating the tires as much as I should have or maybe the C load rating is just too much for pavement.

I used to be a BFG guy. I went to the tire store to get another set. Sales guy asked, "You sure you want BFG's?". I asked, "why wouldn't I?". He put a BFG next to a Toyo All Terrain. Ok, so what? Then he pointed and explained why the channeling of Toyos evacuate material more efficiently. I thought, ok. I'll spend an extra $5 per tire to try them. I was sold. Stuck with them for over a decade. I recently had a 3" lift put on my '16 Taco. Limited choice for tires forced me back to BFG's (275/70R16). At the first use in significant snow, I sensed tiny amounts of slippage, that was easy to correct. But feel certain that if with Toyos, would've been like driving on duct tape in comparison. I want to go back to Toyo if I find a size that permits.

Man that's weird. Toyo open country at 2's were like the most dangerous tires I've been on. After 15K miles or so, it seemed like every single time starting from a stop when the roads were wet, they'd just spin and spin. Almost have to just let off the brake and idle up before you could slowly feather the throttle to get going...or else always use 4x4 when wet. They did seem to last a while though. Maybe it was just a hard set...?

I personally like the old school thread design of the BFG. In my experience, they have good road manners as far as grip, handling and noise. I have driven on sand and dirt and the traction is great.
They are expensive but I got such a good deal on them that I could not pass them up.

My post disappeared, but the Cooper St Maxx is a better tire and I have had both on my 3rd Gen.

Strange! I've been through so many sets of Toyos and never had any trouble. Sure, in wet conditions I could make the wheels spin if I wanted to but not problematic like your experience.

I might have gotten a set from a run that were a bit different. Could be as simple as that.

Have you had a set of KO2’s or are you just a grabber fan boy?

I just swapped from my 265/70r17 load C; after 50,000 miles they’re not worn completely, unevenly, nor are they noisy. Literally none of your complaints about these tires apply to the set I ran.

My only complaint, is their wet weather traction isn’t as good as it could be (compared to the Nittos I have now) but I live in Silicon Valley so I rarely have to deal with rain.

The KO2s are on my short list of tires to get. Any advantages with them over the ST Maxx?

Not a grabber fanboy, I just have seen/had a lot of issues with the KO2's. And yes I have owned them and have experience with them. Plenty of people are happy with them, and your experiences with them may be different than mine. I just think that there are better tires out there for the money with less potential for issues.

So how many sets of KO2s have you had? I got mine right when they came out and put the miles on them pretty quick. They have worn excellent, they are not loud, and they’re tough as nails.

Something else is going on here...

ETA: only reason I didn’t get another set is because all my buddies have them and I just have to be a little different.
