Pass, there's a reason they earned the nickname stealership.

Notice how the sales person talks up the vehicle as being awesome, and you sign for the price. Then you are turned over to the finance person who says the vehicle you just signed for is a POS that needs $3k on warranty and protection.

Honestly anything the dealership offers statistically is making them money. I say just do the proper maintenance maybe even go a little over board and maintain your vehicle. Do the normal warranty if you’d like and take advantage of oil change fluid checks and tire rotation. 9 times outta 10 you won’t use your extended warranty.

Northern, lived there 10 years. I had two vehicles come out from Colorado, where it's pretty dry and minimal salt and within a couple years the rust spread like while fire. I'm never seen a vehicle degrade so quickly.

Literally within a couple years my 97 Ford the wheels rusted so bad the caps fell off and I had rust eating away through the body from the underside...

My 88 Jeep, worst thing I ever did was bring it to VA, I shipped it back to CO after a year.

Heard of it but never had any rust, or know of anyone that's had rust issues. Like I say have relatives/friends who live all over the state, including north. Very little snow and very little salt/road treatment.

Very little snow or salt on the roads? Dude there’s wet heavy snow all over northern VA every year and I had the joy of watching traffic suck in it. Heck, they drop mag chloride, which is basically a concentrated salt solution, all over the roads when it doesn’t even snow.

When it snows it sits around more months and roads ice over all the time.

Clearly don’t know anything about NOVA. Consider yourself fortunate.

Sorry man, you need to get out more. Even my wife who was born and raised in MD is shaking her head at your posts.

    I’m out, gotta be trolling.

Are you kidding me, snow sits around for months in northern Va :der:

I've lived in Va for 63 years and one of my daughters lives in NOVA and works in DC so I'm pretty sure I have a better understanding of how much snowfall we get in Va than you do from Colorado.

See below, most of Va only gets around 10">20" of snow over the entire winter, NOVA between 15">25" over the entire winter. And anyone who lives in Va knows that snow doesn't stay on the ground long, typically snows today, gone tomorrow or next day.

Let's just agree that I won't tell you what the weather is like in Colorado where you live and you don't tell me what's it's like in Va.

So you missed the point where I lived in VA for 10 years and my wife was born and raised in MD. Your actually doing a better job of describing snow fall here. We literally had 3” snow fall yesterday and it will be back to 80 degrees in a couple days. Snows and and then melts a couple days later.

VA is literally the reason I will never own a front wheel drive vehicle again it’s 4WD/AWD or nothing.

Debate all you like, you’ll still be wrong.

I guess you guys had a pretty casual winter last year.

I was an auto service advisor for a Chevy Dealership.
The dealership I worked at subed out the
    Vehicle protection work.
The customer had to get it retouched up every year. I’m not sure if there was a charge
    for the retouch work.
I would look for a private company that has good reviews to do it.

My plan says lifetime for all that stuff and a whole lot more. From what i hear from most its excellent for at least 3 years before they advise some washing or waxing to help extend the process.

I bought the platinum protection warranty package, which they gave me a deal on. This was just in case something went wrong with something electronic that I couldn't fix easily. Otherwise, I would have absolutely said no to everything.

I've purchased rust protection in the past on my last truck (granted it wasn't a brand new truck) and it ended up rusting the frame faster. Either have it done when brand new or not at all, in my opinion. There's plenty of aftermarket rust protection out there too.

A good coat of wax or ceramic coat will protect the paint too.
