10k for a virtually stock rebuilt 5vz with ported heads is crazy work.

Agreed. Especially because they're only including a 1-year warranty.

That price is a little steep. For that money how close would you be to a complete V8 swap? I am assuming doing all the work yourself. On top of the price for this engine you are going to pay anywhere from 2500-4000 for a mechanic to swap this in.

Also gotta consider you have to get new manifolds, etc...the gains seem too marginal for the price

I would've thought LCE would've gone with some beefed up internals, not just ARP head studs, especially at this price point.

These guys are pretty well known for making really hopped up Toyota 4-bangers, and would've liked to see some more of that approach in this product.

You bet. I mean - might as well. At that point it would be best to replace all of that while the old engine is out. I wonder how much they give you for a core or is that offered for this engine? I do not doubt that it is very high quality. I went through a little bit of a ringer with a remanned engine and I am on engine number 2 as the 1st grenaded the crankshaft and I spent under $10k for 2 engine. lol Probably would of been better off going this route (one and done) but I also wonder why no numbers are posted? Gains in hp and torque.

Is it OEM internals? OEM is forged right? maybe that's why. Already rock solid?

I dont think OEM is forged for the 5vz, because there was a thread where people were talking about forged options a while back. Additionally I think LCE actually offers forged pistons for the 5vz. But if they dont mention them in the description for this long block, hard to imagine they used them

You can get a ls or uz swap for than $10k. That’s outrageous but each to their own.

I learned a long time ago that if you can write a check and make the problem go away, write that check.
