    Hello all!!

I am new to the Tacoma world! I do however own a 2003 tundra 4x4.....or my youngest son does, I just researched and paid for it! Ha....

I am now looking for a Tacoma for my oldest. He has been driving an 07 GMC 2500 HD 4x4 and is tired of the gas bill, especially with starting college. He, and I, still want a beefy truck, 4x4, have fun but still have a reliable vehicle. Can you all please take a look at the CL post and give me your opinions.....serious opinions. It is a two owner truck, had hail damage and the hood, roof and fenders and replaced with fiberglass. I have to confirm the roof info.... What are your thoughts on how long the engine will last, transmission, etc....

    Thanks for input in advance!!!!

    Welcome to TW

No, way too expensive. He thinks by adding things to the truck that it will increase the price of it, they don't they actually make it harder to sell because the market is now aimed only towards that type. Maybe if the truck didn't have 200k miles on it and maybe like less than 100k plus the mods. Way too expensive for 200k miles. Keep looking, find a stock truck and build it your self. Plus it has a body lift over 1"

Too expensive and you probably won't get any better gas mileage with that truck than what he already gets.

I just sold my 02 XCab 4x4 without a bunch of replaced body panels and about 40k fewer miles and was happy with the $8K I got for it

Something doesn't feel "right" about the truck pictured...hard to see on my phone but possibly a body lift? Def replaced front seats

I'd pass on the truck. Anything that "Custom" has been customized for that owner and their wants/likes. And it has a body lift, you don't wanna deal with that.

I bought my 04 in March for just about that same price, but it only had 24,000 miles on it. Pass on this one, those mods don't equal that asking price. Plus, he's likely wheeled the heck out of that truck so there could be some tough miles within those 200,000. I'd keep an eye out for one with less mileage, or if it is high in the 200k range then get one that is complete stock and babied.

    Welcome to TW!

    Easily a 27k$ truck?

For like, 8500 bucks I'd buy it and deal with the color, or murder it out. For 15,8? Just no.

Exactly, pay less for a truck with less miles and do whatever mods you want to do yourself. Thats half the fun anyway

Maybe this guy doesn't pay attention to when he types...but 400lb coils?? No. Probably more like 600lb coils.

LOL!!! Yawl are funny as H#ll!!! I was already apprehensive about the whole deal. I took both my sons to look at the truck today. It was a GREAT learning experience for them!! They definitely learned that pictures are very deceiving. I truly appreciate all the input and support.

After turning down this deal, we test drove a 2007 Taco Access 4x4 with 95K. It was pretty rough and had a "hitch or hiccup" when starting to move from a static position while in Drive. The dealer came off the price $1k and not interested with me pointing out the water pump was about to go out....

The same dealer....checked out a red '07 Taco DBL cab RWD with 143K mi. Good price, but extremely basic. Plus it had a bullet hole in the drivers door and what appeared to be a faded blood stain in the passenger seat!!! LOL They covered the bullet hole with a piece of red duct tape....hahahahahaha!!!!!!!! Had to pass....

I then found the cleanest '07 Taco RWD Dbl cab with TRD package that I have seen. One owner, no rust, no mysterious grease or wiped off areas and 130K miles. Engine was clean, without signs of being cleaned. Carfax showed the dealer to have had the truck for less than a week. All the hoses, belt and cables were not dry rotted....my point is I couldn't find anything wrong with it (knocking on wood). With all that, it came in at my price point.

My son is stoked and so am I. The truck was listed for approximately 1 hour before I got to it. Just hoping it lasts him for at least another 200K...or at least till he stops eating my food!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again to all of you and look forward to this forum's info and assistance.
