What is everyone's opinion/preference on these? I personally would rather go with a "hard tri fold". Don't need it until fall so there is time to ponder ideas (procrastinate LOL)

I’ve had my Bakflip MX4 for over a year now. Love it. Not water tight but I’m in Southern California and it doesn’t rain THAT often. I also don’t leave anything in the back when it is raining. Couple that with an actuator for a tailgate and it’s perfect. When you want to haul taller items it comes off with just 2 knobs. My kids crawl on top of it too, rated up to 400lbs.

It also sits flush with the bed and just looks killer. I purchased from 4 Wheel Parts with a warranty.

I also have Bakflip MX4. Love it.
Not sure what you plan to do with your truck, but if you are thinking about putting a bedrack, there isn’t one that I know that would work with the MX4.
I had to design and had a shop fabricate one for me that directly bolts into the side of the bed and can’t open the mx4 with it on. I don’t really need it to open since I use large plastic chests in the back that I can slide in and out.

I have the OEM one, actually really like it! Didnt think I would but its light enough that I can take it off myself if needed but also you still get the hard cover benefits (no wind flapping, etc.) If I were buying aftermarket I might go soft cover though just for convenience and would NOT go one piece hard cover - had one of those on my previous S10 and those things suck!

I third that! I had the Bakflip MX4 on my truck for over a year and was impressed with it. I live in Western Washington where it rains a lot and found it to be fairly (not Completely though) water proof.

I also have the Bakflip MX4. Two hand screws and it comes right off when needed. I highly recommend it!
Note, hail will dent it for sure. I had it in the Midwest for a year and managed to avoid hail. Moved to California and hit a hailstorm driving out through Kansas. Now I have little dints all over it. Truck roof and hood are fine though. It doesn’t look horrible though. It’s mostly noticeable when it’s wet and the light reflects off of the dints differently.

BS If we are talking about the same type cover, I have a Leer fiberglass 1-piece cover on a 1997 F150. Lock freezes up and the cover freezes to the bed rails during freezing rain precips. Heavy as can be and mine always leaked.
