There sure do seem to be a lot of catastrophic failures. I get some people are dishonest about the circumstances of said failure, and I've broken my share of stuff, but normally it's a U joint or a pinion gear. I've never seen axle tubes exploded and driveshafts twisted in half and differentials cracked. Granted this is my first Toyota truck, but I came from a 500 hp F-150 and a 400 hp Z71 that I was not nice to when wheeling and I used to hang out with a Jeep crowd, they fail spectacularly. I've never seen such carnage.

How in the hell did the engine have that much torque when OP doesn't have a single TRD decal on his truck?

I would have thought the u joints would have failed first as well. Like I said was not doing anything crazy, was just trying to get unstuck from the yard not go through some ruts

Has to be some metal fatigue involved or something. Also seems kind of ironic this happened after you already noticed something wasn't right with the 4x4 system.

dana makes a lot of driveline parts.

the front shaft is made by dana
the rear shaft is made by hino (at least that's what's on the shaft)

In this photo I thought the side gear or R&P would have given out first before the axle shaft.

In this photo I thought the CV would have given out before the front diff mount did and the whole fucking diff smacked a hole in the upper oil pan.

I wish my instructors would grade on a curve. I only have one that will out of all my instructors I've had and it's for a linear circuits class I'm taking now. We just did an exam and the class average was 63%, explains why he grades on a curve.
