I think it would be useful for the OP to have the ability to thread ban a derp if they are too derpish. Ofcourse the mods would be able to over rule such an action if it was abused. Yes one could set ignore, but that would be all the time. It would be useful to keep a derp from polluting ones thread.:crapstorm:

Put them on your ignore list and that way you can't see their posts... But I think what you're getting at is you might like to banter with them in other threads but want them banned from your thread? :notsure:

But everyone else sees them and it gives them free reign to crap in your thread, resulting in your need to babysit the thread reporting their crap until the mods delete the derp for you.

to a certain extent I agree BUT i think this would be a bad idea. just cause someone does not agree with what you have to say doesnt mean it shouldnt be said. yes there are some very ignorant people on here but *some* of them know a thing or 2 and contribute great, useful information to a thread that otherwise would not be available.

Interesting... do closed threads get deleted after a certain period of time? If so, I would say that's a horrible idea because you could potentially lose a lot of good information just because the thread OP doesn't like the way someone is posting.

    I don't think so, but I don't run the site so I don't know for sure. :)

How about the ability to collaps a post. It would still be there but one would have to open it to see it.

    No... they remain forever.

But I wish more forums would follow the practice of Dieselplace and a few others and have the software set to auto-lock after 90 days.

OP can request an unlock if he wants to update the thread (such as for a long term project/build).

That prevent the inevitable 3-year Necropost

in the post #2 by Bob, he's working on something for the For Sale section, I'd imagine a close thread button shouldn't be too hard after that

That would almost be work than it is worth, you as the OP would have to find the post you don't like and collapse it. Have you thought about using the button to change the way you view a thread? It doesn't weed 'em out, but is nice to see what is in response to what.
