Other than the fact that you’re supposed to have some, You sure seem to know a lot about insurance. . . Too bad you don’t know how to follow traffic laws either.

That would probably help with the other thing...

Most accident lawyers here offer a free consult and you will know right away whether you have a case or not. They typically won't take on something they don't see dollar signs in at some point down the road (at least my Mom's accident lawyer was like that). Just be prepared for that line of action to take a very long time and there is always a possibility it won't work but most accident lawyers don't get paid unless there is some kind of settlement or action. If there is any ambiguity in who is at fault it might not be the best course of action to take. Plus lawyers may not touch this because you didn't have insurance.

My Mom was involved in a really bad accident where the person driving the car was not the owner and the owner had let the insurance lapse, the only way she got anything out of that was she had uninsured motorist on her vehicle so the lawyers went after that and then left it up to the insurance to pursue the owners of the vehicle that was involved in the accident. The guy who hit her had a felony warrant so he was sent to prison as soon as he was released from the hospital, he actually tried to run from the accident but hit another car head on. That being said if the Tesla owner claims you were at fault their insurance can come after your assets unless the laws are different in California that prevent them from doing this. It just sort of depends on how the owner of the Tesla proceeds, just be thankful its battery didn't explode after it hit you and everyone walked away from this accident.

OP thinks he's "handling it without insurance" but there's a police report.:confused::confused: Expect a LOT of letters in the mail in 7-10 business days.

Get a lawyer, you're screwed beyond belief but you need damage control.
