Did the doc rule out any medical issue why he's not gaining weight? As long as he's getting enough to eat, he should be growing. It could also be that he's ready for food on top of the milk

My older son needed cereal at 3 weeks and my younger was 5 months old before he needed anything else.

When my boys were little, I breast fed them and it took a little getting used to it for them to switch from the breast to the bottle.

Thanks! he told us that probably the breast milk is getting more watery and/or maybe he isn't filling up enough, so that's why we are gonna try out the formula this month.

I forgot to mention that he also has reflux, and we started treatment last month, he is getting a lot better....

I mean overall he is in great condition, he has good reflexes and good mood, on the measurements he is above the average...... its just the weight gain....

As long as he is getting taller,I would not worry about the weight as much. They should give you a % of where he is. My wife breast fed for 3mos. We started to work in some formula at the end. Made the transition good. Plus, it will keep them full longer and they will (a) require less feedings and (b) perhaps sleep through the more of the night now that they are full. Not too mention spearing moms nipples.
Soon after the forumla statrted, we mixed in some simple stage 1 fruits and veggies. The goal is to get them off the bottle soon (as well as pacifier) after teeth develop as a host of problems can occur with the developing teeth and gums.

    how's your wife's production?

One of the things that I've always heard to do is to do deep feedings-feed on just 1 breast first until it is empty, then offer the second. It has to do with the calorie content of the foremilk and the hindmilk.

Also, my wife has a hard time giving him a bottle, but he'll take a bottle from me without any issues.
