there was a thread on here that showed a profile pic of a license plate bracket that they bought from the dealer. it did not mount using the bumper divits and spaced the plate a bit from the bumper. i believe it was from another vehicle but i can't remember.

i've searched to no end for the thread, i should have bookmarked it.

anyone know wth i'm talking about?

hmm, no. it was something that was spaced away from the bumper. i think the vehicle was red, and they had a profile picture of the spacing between the plate/bracket and the bumper. and i think the poster said he got it from the dealer but it was for another toyota or universal, or something.

i'm trying to see how it fit (again) and what the part actually was.

i know the poster said something about it not having the same curve as the bumper or something, but it didn't really matter since it was position in front of the bumper, not on it.

    i hate forgetting things!

the truck was white, it was mounted with a large U- shaped bracket through the passenger side lower front bumper grill. so the bracket came through facing forward like the truck, then he mounted a lisence plate holder in a T shape straight in front facing forward

that home made bracket above isn't the one, but thanks!

    that camaro solution looks interesting.

now i'm questioning if i even saw it on this particular forum!

http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...icense-plate-screwed-into-front-bumper-2.html is the only thread about plates that i sub'd to here, so i'm sure i would have sub'd to the other one if it was indeed here.

i dunno, i'm thinking about doing a piece of alu stock spanning the two bumper post studs (which have ample threads left), and then welding an alu bracket on there to snake through the lower grill, which would then hold a universal holder like the home made bracket above, only difference is it would be sturdy, centered, and above the lower grill, not below.

Made a bracket utilizing the two down-facing holes on the frame just behind the bumper cover. Never get a hard time about it in our ball-busting state.

thanks man. i actually considered that but it's just too low and i fear i'd bend/hit it.

i'm going to use an atv/tube bumper type license plate mount on this n-fab light bar i have waiting in my garage for me to install.

i would beat the crap out of that plate offroad i think

i guess you could think of it as an extra layer of steel for your skid plate....

I thought about that. That's why it had spring loaded hinges. I gotta take it apart and do a write-up for the forum.
