    Yes, master is loose. bottom bolt is completely out, and the top one is barely threaded in, so that I am able to rotate the bottom section of the master where the hard line screws into

    I am NOT a mechanic but the end of that fitting looks like it was manufactured that way, I do not think it was flared by over tightening- my rationale: it’s too uniform, the section after the threads looks like it has some flash along the bottom edge that extends to the very end, this too would have been mashed up.

    Looks to me that in addition to getting the angles right, it needs to be inserted then threaded...

    @Bebop , any thoughts?

    @rjbiii , do you have a nut the same size as the thread in the master cylinder? See if it’ll thread on to your fitting. This could show if the end is mashed or not AND straighten out some of those nicked threads without dicking around with files and such...

    Very good idea, I don't think I have a metric nut like that, but will definitely try to track one down! Didn't even think to do this, very good troubleshooting procedure:cheers:

    You can bring your extra fitting to a hardware store and match it up! Good luck!!

    Have you loosened the clutch cylinder off the firewall. Sometimes it helps if both ends have a little wiggle to them

    like the bracket holding the master to the firewall? or the hard line where it attaches to the firewall? I haven't done either of these, will definitely do so if it helps everything line up though

    Lossen them all. The more wiggle room you have trying to thread in a hydraulic line the better. Less chance of cross threading.

    Looking at the pic, it's obvious that the end of the fitting is mushroomed out larger than the diameter of the valleys in the threads on the fitting. You can see the scratches on the fitting where the mushroomed part scraped on the high point of the threads in the fitting as you were backing it out. You only have 2 choices. File down that part of the fitting or replace the hard line. As much as that fitting has been goobered with vicegrips, overtightened, and bent where it enters the fitting, I would replace the line.

    That's a flare fitting - I wouldn't file anything down to make it fit or it's never going to seal. Muddin is right, replace the whole hard line.

    Got it on finally. Took lightly filing down the fitting on the hard line, and about another 2hrs of trying to get it lined up perfectly. Tightened down the fitting, and no leaks as of yet. Need to bleed the line and adjust the pedal again, but the old girl is moving on her own again. Thank you everyone for all your help and suggestions! Couldnt have done it without yall, as usual, tacoma world always comes through!

    Cheers :cheers:

    Have a cold one!!!!! And I live by the motto, “every 20 minute job is one broken bolt or stripped screw away from becoming a 3 day ordeal”

    Enjoying one right now!!
    That is a great motto lol. Sounds like what i encounter every time i try to work on my truck with something i have very little experience doing.. shit tends to go wrong for me frequently, but i do learn a hell of a lot during the process of fixing it

    Invest in a good tap and die kit and some bolt extractors. Thread files come in handy too

    What did you use to file down the hard line? I’m in the same situation. I Didn't know what you used to get back into the tight space.
