Looking forward to the arrival of new 2022. With price points for late model used it just seemed to make sense to add a few thousand bucks for new and 0 miles. Looking at some of the posts I'm slightly concerned that I'm going to get what I'm expecting as well as the quality of the build? I've owned a 2008 TRD, currently driving a 2015 SR5 V6 all access cabs.

    Welcome to TW.

    I wouldn’t worry about it.
Most manufacturers have learned to deal with the issue.
A lot of it is supply. Quality seems to have been maintained just as good as before.

    Welcome to TW.
Thinking I may have to make the move to a third gen before 12yr frame thing ends on mine.
    What’s your 22 gonna be?
I went from a 08 base 4 banger 5 speed to a 12 TX pro trd crew cab.
Really happy with the extra seating and V6.

I'm getting the V6 4WD Access Cab, Super white. Added the soft tonneau cover, blackout package, 5-In. Oval Tube Steps - Black. I waffled a lot between double cab and access. Decided I'll get more use of 6' bed than the extra seating. Wife has a Rav4

Hi there! Congrats! What trim did you get? Any cool features we should know abou?

On a related note though, I am surprised that you were finding a late model used that was LESS THAN a new one. That was NOT my experience at all. The new car shortage and a demand for Tacomas drove up the cost of late models (especially 2020 and 2021) where it actually surpassed the cost of a new one. That is what ultimately got me to got a new one. The cost difference was almost $6K! Now I didn't get every bell and whistle but I got enough and it's brand spanking new!

So I hope you didn't pay too much of a markup.

I got the SR5 - I had test drove a 2019 Access Cab 4WD V6 SR5 with 29,000 miles sticker was $35k. Got the new 2022 for $3k more and no MSRP markup. There a bunch of packages and accessories totaling about $4500 included in that price. I got Super White with cement grey interior

    My Options were
    5-In. Oval Tube Steps black
    Tonneau cover soft
All-Weather Floor Liners and Door Sill Protectors
    Bed Lighting Kit
    Black Out Package
    Door Edge Guards
    Mudguards

Another dealer was tagging an addition $4k over MSRP. That was in New Jersey I'm in upstate New York.

I have a stealth YAMAHA ZUMA 50 banger. And yes I am still alive and well.
Hey Rockmolsen Welcome! I am exited for your 2022 T! I am on the other end of the spectrum, I just started the search for my first second gen Tacoma 4x extended still up in the air about 5 foot or 6 foot. From owning 3 Tacomas (apart from the increase in used cars due to the chip shortage).. is there any advice you can lend in the current used market... I am willing to travel from Los Angeles to Arizona / Texas. Thank you and have fun on your 2022 are you going to put one of those Kimbo campers on it?

My dad just bought a 2022 SR5 and it did not come with remote start. His Toyota app doesn't show the lock/unlock/remote start on his connected services

Not sure how much help I'll be but here goes. First what I'm seeing in my Northeast area is that dealer and or private party are getting top dollar for any late model used. Some dealerships are charging and getting $4-$6k over MSRP for new. As an example I paid $24k in 2018 for my current 2015 4WD V6 Tacoma access cab that had 29,000 miles at time of purchase. I already have a buyer when my new one comes in for $24k with 72,000 miles. I did make a few add-ons, soft tonneau cover, remote start, and an after market tailgate lock. Probably worth about $650 at time of purchase. The used are in demand.

As far as bed size., that was a bit of a quandary. So this truck is the vehicle I drive and my wife has her own. We're both retired and children are grown and gone. I felt that when ever we need to transport more than 2 people we'll use the wife's car (2021 Toyota Rav4). That said I felt I'd get more use from the 6' bed than a double cab with the 5' footer. We have a small 5'x8'x8' enclosed trailer to tow but no campers happening the future.

    Hope that helps >
