A bit of a noob when it comes to Tacomas (and older cars in general) so bear with me for a second. One of my friends has a '04 w/ the 2.4L ~150k miles, he's kept the usual maintenance stuff but nothing too crazy, and I'm helping him out on spark plug replacement along with some other stuff. Since we'll probably have to remove the intake tube, it opens up access to the throttle body

As someone who's cleaned throttle bodies but on newer cars, I got a few questions

    1. Is it absolutely necessary to remove the entire throttle body assembly (so you get access to the backside of the throttle body) or is sticking a throttle-body-cleaner-soaked-cloth and wiping it from the front sufficient for a 2RZ? I know the latter isn't going to be as thorough as the former, but I also don't have a throttle body gasket on hand nor all the stuff to bleed coolant in case the coolant hose needs to get removed

    2. Is it safe to just manually open/close the throttle actuator by moving it with your hand? Wanted to ask since I've cleaned throttle bodies before, but it's on newer cars that have servo-actuated throttle bodies w/out IAC valves and I don't want to mess anything up since it's all mechanical on a 2RZ

    3. How important is cleaning the IAC valve on a 2RZ, is throttle body cleaner okay, and is it one of those "if you clean the throttle body you must clean the IAC along with it"? I would assume this is one of those things you do if the throttle body is completely disassembled and out of the car?

    4. Anything special about the MAF sensor, or is the usual "spray it with MAF cleaner and make sure it dries" okay?

    Appreciate any pointers, thanks!
