Hey guys, so I just swapped the throttle body on my 98 3.4l manual 4x4 tacoma (was having a high idle), with a throttle body from a 98 4runner. Everything is pretty much plug and play, except now my throttle cables each are about an inch off. One is an inch too short, and the other is an inch too long (this is with them maxed out via the adjustment screws. See pics attached.

Is there any way to adjust the cable length? Like the thin metal wire, not the whole black housing?

Any idea what I should do to fix this? Help is appreciated!!

Kick back cable is too loose:

Throttle cable is like an inch too tight (not long enough to fit back into the original bracket)

Not sure I'm understanding, or that that would work?

Why not get the right one? If you want that to work you’re going to have to run the cable around something or Redo the end. Probably find something to crimp on to the cable. The short one your kinda screwed your self bud. In less you find a shorter path.

I was told it was off a 98 4runner manual, which would be the exact same engine as mine. Obviously didnt intend to run into this problem.

Looks like I'm gonna ship my old one to Maxbore, get it rebored, then install it cause I've pretty much narrowed down my high idle issue to the throttle body butterfly.

I've heard he's good. Funnily enough tho if you look at the pics, the gap between the two looks very similar, so I'm kinda puzzled why the swapped TB idles lower, cause there's still clearly a gap...

Nice. Hope that fixes it. How high did it idle? I wonder if anybody has had that spring lose its closure tension.

The butterfly sits in a slightly different position because of thrust wear. Sometimes it's perfectly center, sometimes it's to the left or right. I was able to make mine idle well if i messed with the throttle body. With the pedal it would usually hang up and hold high idle. All gone after Maxbore. They installed a washer for thrust and adjusted Tps too. I opted for the least amount of bore so there is room in the future if need be.

It was idling at at 1500 sometimes higher. When I swapped the TB, it was idling roughly the same, but I unplugged the battery and now its running at 850ish which is normal.

Ok that's good to know. Did you tell them to install the washer or adjust Tps or did they just do it anyways?

They just did it. Way more service than I was expecting.
