    Even the oldest of third gens shouldn't have a dirty throttle I imagine... but I may just be ignorant.

    Yeah.. This is correct. Sorry for not answering the question. Main thing is don't spray shit or let debris past the throttle

    That residual oil went up into the throttle body.

    And people here say a catch can isn't needed.

    As many as I can fabricate
    Throttle Body would be the common name. And yeah, clean it if it's dirty. A carbon ring can and will develop around the throttle plate causing it to hang open slightly. The ECU will adjust fuel to compensate for the additional air, but eventually it will readjust out of range...Find a old tooth brush and don't get any electrical parts wet.
