I have a 2013 TRD Offroad with a manual transmission. When I let off the throttle there is a SIGNIFICANT delay before the engine begins to resist forward movement (aka engine-brake). Sometimes it's 2-3 seconds. It's particularly bad when the AC and/or defroster is on (which kinda makes sense), but it happens regardless. It's like the throttle remains partially open for a few seconds, or the idle control valve is hanging open allowing the manifold pressure to remain artificially high. When I let off the gas, I want the throttle to shut...period. Has anyone else noticed this, and does anyone have a fix? Is it possible that they used the same throttle control programming on my truck with a manual transmission as they would on an automatic?

On a separate note, the brakes are very "grabby", and have been from day-1. It seems like the calipers are sticking a bit. Anyone have a fix? I read somewhere that these trucks have something like a "panic assist" that provides additional brake boost during a sudden braking application. Can this be turned off?

Assuming you bought this new, youi should take it back to the dealer to diagnose. Should be under warranty.

I don't know much about 'throttle-by-wire', but my wild-ass-guess would be a faulty pedal sensor or faulty throttle servo. Not even sure if those are the right terms for those parts. A few years ago, Toyota did have recall about sticking throttles.

Believe that the throttle issue is a known thing. Do some searches. No fix that I recall, but I don't have a manual so I just see some of these threads every once in a while.

I despise that crap too. It is either the computer control programming that causes that issue or an fault that the ecu is compensating for and I can't believe no one has found a diagnosis yet. We will most likely need a chip reprogramming tool to fix this. I hope someone posts a fix soon I'm craving it!

I've been living with this annoyance since late 07'. It's the fault of the factory ECU tuning and it's programmed like this for emissions reasons. What they are, I have no idea. But I've noticed that with the A/C on, ( additional parasitic load on the engine ) that the revs drop down to idle noticeably quicker. It makes shifting and timing the clutch release much different A/C on vs off.
