2020 TRD Sport, 30k miles. My throttle /accelerator stuck twice today and six other times in recent weeks. I take my foot off the gas approaching another vehicle or an intersection, yet the truck powers on. Its like having cruise control on so to speak. Even when I push the brakes, I can feel the engine / throttle continuing to power... and then release. I am scheduled for my 30k service. Any input on what this might be or what to tell the dealer besides my experience?

Other than a bad throttle pedal sensor, which should be throwing codes for doing something like that, or a significant vacuum leak, I have no other ideas.

I would call your dealer now as they should consider this a signifcant issue.

    Floor mat?

Was a little thing where the bottom of the gas peddle needed to be hacked off by a official toyota dealer.
    Back in 2004 or so.

If you do have the dealer investigate that intake isn't going to help your cause.

Wish you the best in getting it figured out!

    Nope
Nope I just have the standard oem matts and they’re not where near the pedal. Something either “sticking” or the fuel injection keeps injecting or something!

Pretty sure Toyota has a safety feature after the whole stuck accelerator thing a few years ago. Now if the throttle is stuck and you hit the brakes it’s supposed to kill the engine. So my guess is it’s neither the pedal or the sensor, maybe the linkage on the throttle body itself might be getting stuck

I did put an AFE Power throttle body space on at the end of the CAI. Do you think that could cause such a thing sticking?

It could be anything. But there's redundant sensors in the pedal and the throttle plate. I would think if there was an issue the truck would defualt to limp mode?

That's what the dealer is likely to tell you.

Don't take it to the dealer with it on there. They will note it and boom, all future warranty issues for intake related issues will be on your dime.

All 3rd gens have this feature, but it doesn't kill the engine. It ignores the throttle pedal input and returns the throttle valve to idle position. It also displays a message on the center display if it activates.

I'm going with the throttle plate sticking from the spacer thing.

Just throw that thing in the scrap pile or use it as a cock ring. It's more useful as a cock ring vs. making HP
