Throws codes when i connect to trailer immediately

On 2012 4x4 5 speed i4 tacoma when i connect my trailer dit immediately turns on my ABS and Traction control light on my dash. Took it to get the codes and the snap-on scanner showed c1422 master cylinder pressure sensor zero point high, c1425 open in stop switch circuit and last code was p0418 secondary air injection system relay “A” circuit. Some times when it rains my light turn on and it would be the c1425 and p01418 and if they stay on i can feel a deceleration when pressing the gas pedal so i had to relese the pedal and press the gas pedal for it to act normal again but to turn the lights of it was as simple as just turning of my truck and it would be fine. But when i connect my trailer i cant turn them off by anymeans until I disconnect my trailer from my truck….. any help would help i been researching but no clear answers

 

@Rise007 The P0418 is an Secondary Air Injection fault code. May not be the sole reason why the truck is behaving the way it is but wanted to provide some resources that could help.

Did you get this fixed? If not I’m guessing there is an issue in the trailer harness grounding properly.

 

This^^^^ to start with. I honestly don’t know anything about the codes it’s throwing. But over the years every time I’ve had a problem with a trailer harness or trailer wiring it’s been a ground problem. I think the codes may be bull shit codes, something wrong with the harness/wiring. Hook up to a different trailer and see if the same thing happens. Be sure to actually connect the trailer to the truck, and not just connect the wires/harness.

And if anyone wondering why connection of the trailer to the truck and not just the wiring plug is important trailers often ground through the hitch ball.

 

I didn’t realize that this was actually posted in July and no one responded til October. He ain’t been back on TW since August. I don’t blame him. We certainly helped this poor dude out. If the op ever see’s this let us know how it was resolved. Sorry OP sometimes things just get F’d up.

 

The 2012 model has a notorious second air injection issue. Typically, most replace it with a after market model mod. The problem is, the foam filter gets sucked in to the inlet port of the pump and clogs it up.
