My tacoma has recently began making this noise or I have begun to notice it more. Occasionally, when applying throttle and releasing clutch to accelerate into first, there is a distinct "thud" that comes from below. Happens as the power is being transferred to the wheels. Is this an issue?

Sounds like my truck so it probably normal, but just in case grab your drive shaft while parked in gear and try to spin it. It should move a little and this is the slap/clunk you may be hearing. As long as there's not a lot of movement and drive shaft is greased up your good to go.

If you have lots of time then have the dealer check it out since it's new. I always tell people it is just part of the fun owning a rear wheel drive, clunky noisy gear truck. Love it.
