So Im stumped, and Toyota can't seem to duplicate it. When i hit a sharp bump in the road, a bridge gap, etc, I get a thud that sounds like its around the passenger backseat to the rear wheel area. Ive checked things over and don't see anything lose, and I get no noise when jumping in the bed. \

Toyota said they couldn't duplicate it when driving it around the dealer lot, so i have a feeling I'm going to have to go drive the tech around and be like "that, did you hear that?" "no? let me find another bump."

It's not a clunk, but it sounds like there's a rubber block so something bouncing in the bed ever so slightly... I have the bfg a/t tires that come factory (TX Baja) and the baja factory suspension. The tires make a distinct "thud" of "oomph" noise when hitting bumps. The passenger rear is considerably louder can be heard over the tires impacting.

Its been doing this for the past 8-10k miles, currently at 21k miles.

My truck does it too (2012). I'm pretty sure it's the spare tire.

Spare tire. Tighten until you think you'll break the spare tire lift then turn another 1/8 of a turn.

Just brought my 2012 Baja in for this. Mine was the rear drivers shock, but I was able to duplicate it by jumping in the bed. They are changing the shock under warranty.

It's not the bump stops hitting the frame?

Did you actually jump in the bed, or just stand in it and shake the truck?

Ill check my spare, but if I hit a small pothole on the driver side it sounds normal, passenger side I get that double thunk (noise then tire or vis versa)

Actually jumped in it. I had someone else jump in the bed and felt around under truck and when I grapped the shock I could feel it. But shock wasn't loose. Dealer shock has internal damage but they had to order shock so gets changed next week.

You can check and make sure one of your bed bolts hasnt backed out. Lift up on each of the four corners of the bed independently, and if one has backed out a little it would thump over bumps.

Well Ive been driving the Prius until last weekend so I hadn't really gotten a time to look or listen to the truck.

When I backed out of the driveway I had a loud, as in it startled me, clunk come from the rear of the truck.

When i got to work I jumped in the truck bed and jumped and you can hear a quiet thud-like noise come from the rear passenger side.

did you lift up on each corner of the bed to see if there is play in the bolts that hold the bed down?

Ive picked up on all 4 corners of the bed and don't feel anything strange or hear anything.

any chance it's the tailpipe / exhaust system?? Bent/moved/broken hanger?

Can you get someone to jump in the bed and recreate the prob while you get underneath?

Well dropped the truck off on Saturday. They are having a regional tech come out to see what is going on and I should have it back in a week. This is to resolve my thud and metal clunk in the rear, and a drivetrain vibration in the front end.

Not bad for a truck that has less then 25k miles and has never been offroad...
