Does anyone with the Thule fairing have a close up of how it attaches to the rack and truck top? I just bought a Thule rack set-up but would like to see how the fairing attaches, does it attach to the roof in any way? I guess I'm just confused as to how it all fits together

Perfect! I saw the tabs coming down in pictures I've seen and was wondering if you had to drill into the roof to attach it (which I wouldn't be willing to do). I guess the downforce keeps the tabs against the truck. Thanks for the response, I just wanted to find out how it all worked before I ordered the parts up.

yes I guess that is how it works
You will see the 4 attach points on the load bar
with those feet. Mine stays on even with the snow and/or touchless car washes. I worry sometimes about the power dry vaccums. 4 yrs no issues
here is the pic I found

That's impressive and good to know. I use those automatic car washes all the time, especially in the winter so I don't freeze outside. Thanks for the picture, it's very helpful and makes the decision a lot easier. Hopefully I'll have mine mounted up shortly!

    Yep, Judy nailed it.
it's very easy to put on, nothing permanent has to be done, and the thing is solid.

for anyone interested, here's an update on the rack:

i built a light bar that i bolted right ot the thule itsself, it's absolutely solid...i was wheeling a couple weeks ago, a tree branch got caught in the rack.....rack was perfectly fine...but now the tree's missing a branch.
I also put my hi-lift up there. it's a heavy piece of equipment (maybe 50lbs), but the rack holds it fine. here's a picture of how it sits/what i keep up there as of a couple weeks ago

I actually have another bike rack that i need to squeeze back up there, but haven't getten around to it since building the light rack

I read the write up when you added that rack, it looks great! Unfortunately I can't have one of those because of low parking garages in Boston! I had to measure before I bought the base rack system to make sure I could still park where I work... damn little city cars!

I hear ya. i'm in florida now (college and work), but i'm originally from virginia/DC (everythign is parking garrages around there). even with just the base rack i didn't fit in 90% of the parking garrages anymore. then i added the lift....that killed the other 10%

when i go back with the light rack now, i'm gonna be a good foot over the max height for most :(

give the roof a good wash and coat of wax where the rubber feet will come in contact with the roof, and you'll be good for years and years. then all you have to do is enjoy the rack and everything you can do with it

Colin, What type of bedcover setup do you have? That looks exactly like what im looking for. Is the bike rack set up in the cover? Or are they separate? Does it lock? Thanks.

company is Pace Edwards. the one i have is called the "Full Metal Jackrabit" they also have a cheaper "jackrabit", but it's cunstructed of fewer crossbeams, covered in vynil, whereas the full metal version is completely aluminum. it's a great cover. it olls up into the little basked at the front of the bed. it does lock. you can also lock in in 1 foot increments if you ever need to. it's not completely watertight, but extremely close. i'm sure it could be if i took some time to seal up the edges better.

the bike mounts don't come with it. i jsut bought 2 of these http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1031488_-1_1535500_20000_400019 and bolted them to the cover of the basket that the tenneau rolls up into.

here's the pace edwards site http://www.pace-edwards.com/
