I'm thinking of getting either the Thule xSporter or a Tracrac bed rack to transport a canoe. Either option will require removal of my OEM tonneau cover. I'm curious if anyone out there has mounted one of these bed racks on a 3rd gen that has the OEM tonneau cover hardware on the bed-rails. Specifically, do the tonneau cover's mounting pins or the restraining bolt interfere with the attachment of these bed racks?

I searched and didn't see this addressed in either text or photos. Thank you for the help.

I did it another way... left cover on, added 2 Voodoo bed racks and a tow extension with an adjustable goal post trailer hitch ... mounted to 13' kayaks ... drove 90mph+ at times on highway.

How did you attach the Voodoo bed racks with the tonneau cover on? Can you add a few closer pictures of the bed rack and how its connected with the tonneau cover on?

They attach to the bed rails.. the cross member can be removed to open the cover very easily. The racks I have aren't heavy duty enough for a RTT (roof top tent) but are perfect for Kayak/Canoe duty. I like them cause I can take them off and put them on very easily since they mount to the bed rails.

If using a tracone on a 2017 tacoma that has the tonneau pins installed, do they need to be removed in order to insert the clamps or for the uprights to sit flush?
    thanks Patrick
