Hopefully someone finds a solution because it’s a weird feeling especially since it’s a brand new truck

What led to Icon developing the top hat.

No... Only Icon's truck and Our truck ?
We've also had a couple in the shop with the same issue.
May not be 1 of every 2 trucks but definitely more common than it should.

Have you peeked inside your wheel wells to see if a top hat blew out like in the pictures?

Looks good. Probably more robust than Icon's offering but you have to remove the whole coil over assembly

Yeah, we thought that between the reinforcement and the lift it would be worth while to remove the shock. If you're planning on keeping stock shocks, then you may not be thinking of doing a lift but if you could get your shocks reinforced while getting a more leveled truck, it makes more sense.

I think so since it is the only one with this shock.

I personally checked a sport and SR5, unless Toyota recently changed something, those trucks will have different shocks but the SAME TOP HAT.

If doing just a leveling kit up front (Rough Country) would it be wise to add the Icon top plate reinforcement or does the leveling kit take care of the issue?

    Neither
The kit will lower the mounting location of the top hat rendering Icon's plate useless, it sits on top of the mount, NOT on top of the shock...
I think (haven't tried) you could install our plate and then the kit on top of that, but that may lift the truck too much.

Who knows? But I suspect Toyota is sending Bilstein the warranty bill? I think it’s probably fine for most but it’s definitely a weak point. $70 is cheap insurance until Toyota/Bilstein has a fix?

I like this design better.. But I’ll be upgrading the shocks after the pocket book recovers :spending:
