I need help!!! I just had the Bilstein 6112 and 5160 installed plus Nitto 285 75 16s. Now I have a noticeable ticking sound coming from under the drivers side. Im not sure if it’s on the passenger too. The drivers side window was down and that’s why I heard it. I haven’t had the alignment done yet. I was told to wait 200 miles first. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Need more info.

When does this occur? At speed? Does it tick more the faster you go?

Does it tick when suspension moves?

    Wheel/tire combo?

Did you remove your CVs when installing?

It could be the wheel weights scraping on the calipers. Mine did that for a while before they wore themselves down

Nope the wheel weights are causing the clicking sound. I kinda wish it was something that simple.

Dust shields on the brake rotors, is it rhythmic (*once on rotation and speeds up) or constant?

There was this time many moons ago I had a horrific ticking noise coming from my rear axle. Was just a rock in the tire tread.

Agreed. Is it a constant noise? Or when the suspension cycles. Could be many things. I'd take it back to the person who installed it first. A video of the noise would help some.

Wait 200 miles to get an alighnment? I’ve never heard this advice and would advise to get an alignment within a day or two. Otherwise you’re nice new tires could lose a significant amount of tread.

Why did they say wait for an alignment? My first thought was dust shields too.

We’re you lifted before you installed the 6112?
If not, it could be the CV Axle. A lift can make an already “bad” CV worse.

    That's typically a vibration, not a sound.

I did check for nail or screw in the tire but didn’t find one. I was hoping I would at least it’s an easy fix.

The noise would be hard to record because it’s not that loud. If I roll up the windows I can’t hear it. Once I my speed goes over 20 mph the wind noise will cover it up. It’s not noise from the suspension. It’s coming from something that is rotating. I plan to go back to the tire shop first then the suspension shop.

That sounds like a dustshield then.
