    Good day all.

    New to the forum.

So I've read a bunch of thread about the engine ticking, I get it, it's the injectors cleaning but I have another Tick that's annoying that toyota can't seem to get right. Please watch video. It's pretty annoying and now want nothing to do with tacoma's.

    Any help would be great.

    Marcel

    Update:

So realized that it only ticks when I do an oil change goes away after 500 or so miles. So apparently alot of vehicles do this. So back in love with the Tacoma. I mean it's my wife's but I still love it again

I heard it, I'm not sure what it is. It didn't sound like a consistent tick if I heard it correctly

It has an interesting beat, but I'm pretty sure I can't dance to it. Sell it and get a Ranger.

I've heard the video, pretty much sounds like some others i've heard here...almost like having a bad lifter. I've listened to my truck but can't hear anything abnormal with the hood down. If i open the hood fully and walk over to the passenger side of the engine, i can detect a faint ticking sound. I think its just normal fuel injectors doing their job.

There are a thousand questions that could be asked. What oil do you use. How many miles on the truck. When was the last oil change. Any codes (CEL on). Bottom line it sounds like a valve train noise. Get a stethascope and try to isolate it. $15 at any parts store, or take it to your mechanic.
    Not directed at you but food for thought;
If you have 150-200 contacts in your phone, and not one of them is a certified mechanic, sell your truck and buy a bicycle....LMAO.
Ya know? Good luck Sir. It don't sound bad, just beginning.

Mine sounds the same. When I go to work Monday I’ll check other Tacoma’s for the same sound just to make sure.

That tick is as normal as they come. My friend has a 2012 FJ Cruiser 4.0 and it ticks the same as my Tacoma 3.5...Toyota Tick!.

Start worrying when you see metal in your oil.

Thanks for all the replies. I understand it's a Piece of S*** Tacoma but my ticking didn't start until about 58k miles. How does it just start ticking like that. @Tacman19 funny guy.

What oil are you running? Changed brands or oil weights recently?

maybe you just happened to hear it this time and are now focusing on it? My best guess. Sounds like my truck, so I’ve got nothing other than that. Good luck

@Barsoom use what Toyota calls for I use Mobil1 but have tried Castrol and recently Pennzoil. Extremely frustrating if I would have known this I wouldn't have gotten it. Toyota are the worst dealers to work with too. About to go back to an Avalanche.

I cannot listen to the file. Does not let me.
    Toyota's do tick. My wife's 2014 RAV4 ticks, my 05 Taco ticked.
If you step up to 5w-30 oil, it will mask most of the tick. Or use 5w-20 High Mileage oil, if you are worried about warranty. Viscosity is a range of acceptable numbers. A HM 5w-20 oil will be almost as thick as a thinner 5w-30 at operating temps.

PS I have run 5w-40 and THICK 5w-30 in my Veracruz (we are a 3, soon to be a 4 car family) for the last 5 years due to the Hyundai shoddy design and valve cover leak. Manual calls for 5w-20. No problems of any kind with the engine, just a slightly (0.5 mpg) higher gas usage.
