I wish I had discovered this thread a few weeks back or I would have bought TRW tie rod ends with Zerks. I started accumulating OEM parts for this a while back.

I'd say OEM is probably the better way to go in the long run. My TRWs are doing fine, don't get me wrong. But I have no dilusions they are going to last over 200,000 miles like the originals did.

This Advance inner tool is worthless. It won't clear the outer ball socket of the inner tie rod end. Soooo, the best I might be able to find on the 4th of July is a crescent that will open to 42mm. Tractor Supply here I come.

Looking back, I could have bought or used a big Stilson pipe wrench instead of the crescent. I just didn't have a good one. I think @Timmah! suggests a Stilson pipe wrench in his video.

When is a good time or indication to replace your tie rods etc? I notice when I replaced my LBJ I notice my driver side tie rod ball joint spends easily. Truck drives straight and fine.

It's ok if the joint moves freely. It's bad if the joint has play though. If there's no play in the joint and your rig drives fine, don't worry about it.
