tie rod ends HELP?

    Anybody had problems with the
    $16 MOOG's es80895 Steering Tie Rod End for Toyota Tacoma
    MOOG's es80895 tie rod ends rubber boots tearing up prematurely??? I had mine for less than a year and the left side rubber boots tore up, oky so I relaced with new one, had a front end alingnment done, now the same left side tore up again after only 3 weeks..........uuurrrrgg! I do hear a whuuup whuup whuup coming from my front tires as I go down the road but I thought that was becuase they are worn out and close to replacement. I have the BF Goodrich all terrain tires. Any help would be appreciated or past experience knowledge guys, thanks.......

    it sounds like there is definitely something bigger going on. Shocks could be a starting point, but you might have a bad bushing in a control are or even look at your steering rack. Tires could be out of round but that is rather rare. especially for BFGs The boot tearing could be from a sharp edge somewhere on the steering knuckle. But looking at the pic, it appears to be clean.

    I'm throwing darts to be honest.

    • On installation, grease the faying surface of the seal where it contacts the spindle.
    • On installation, put the jack under the control arm so the tie rod angles are closer to normal ride height - this so you don't pinch the boot on installation
    • Try a different part, such as Raybestos 4012185, which has a "convex" boot design without the sharp folds that are prone to leakage. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1328957&cc=1445186

    k, thanks guys. Those are a few things to try. I do remember lifting the LCA up on intallation so it would go in even, I did not put grease though maybe i need to try that next time.

    That boot looks like it's been pinched in, where I would expect it to bellow out in the middle.

    Is that your truck pictured in your avatar, or is it lifted?

    Yes that is my truck and no it's not lifted. I can't figure out how that got pinched but guess I'll try the grease concept some time in the near future.

    Ive had Moog tie rods on my 08' Tacoma for almost 2 years with no issues.

    Only thing I did was flush that crap grease out they come with and filled them with Mobil1.
