Anyone ever hear of the tie rods going out in 19k miles on a 2013 4x4 Tacoma?

It is getting aligned at the shop now but do not believe that this part could wear out so quick.

Quality independent shop you are familiar with? Or a big box shop ?

Is your truck stock or modified suspension?

Suspension if FOX installed about year ago. All Pro Uppers were installed last night. Lifted I'd say about 1.5 to 2" running 265/75R16 Coopers.

Truck was taken to Big O tires where they just threw their hands up at doing the job saying the tie rods were bad. Find this hard to believe with such low miles. Now I will say off road I do drive it quick, but not to the point of being abusive.

I would never trust a big box shop like Big O or others to solve a problem, unless you personally know the tech and their skills. But the best techs don't typically work at big box shops.

I suppose the tie rods could be bad, but I agree, it doesn't seem reasonable.

Personally, I think they just don't know what they are doing. Some people can't work beyond the 'green light' point of reference on the machine, and get confused when they see non OE parts.

See if you can find a shop with a good rep for aligning the local autox or track crowd. They are typically staffed with folk who know what they are doing.

If that shop is successful aligning your truck, no parts required, take your print out results and receipt back to Big O, and ask for your $ back (if they charged you for the work they did not do)

I have had Big O lie to me about work that needed to be done. They told me calipers and rotors were shot and needed replaced immediately. I had gone in to have my tires rotated. They said they couldn't do anything to the truck. I had to argue just to get them to put the wheels back on the truck. I went to a trusted shop and he said everything was perfect. That company won't see another dime from me.

Like others have stated.... dont go to a big alignment / tire shop for alignments... they just toe n go, and could give two shits about what you really want.

Take it to a quality alignment shop. spend the extra 30 bucks and you will have a tech do it PROPER and to specs you want. I wont ever go back to a big brand or the likes.... not after they purposely left my LCA bolts loose (spec is 100ftlbs, they MIGHT of been at 25). The alignment specalist in my area i took my truck to after putting on my SPC UCA's was like, yup seen these before on many a taco, sweet sliders man, and then we proceeded to spend 2 hours dialing in the alignment to .02* within each spec per side. Talk about being as spot on as possible.
