so finally got a new steering rack... and im trying to get the old one out... but i cant seem to get the tierods loose from the steering knuckle... i got the cotterpin and nut off but they just wont budge... ive spent the last 2 hours with a can of PB and a 2lb brass hammer smacking the studs... and have gotten no where... does anybody have any ideas???
i have a forked seperater tool but i dont want to mess the boot up on the tierod itself since i will be reusing them

If you don't have the correct puller, wait until you can buy/rent one from your local autoparts store. All you will do beating on it with a hammer is tear the thing up. Put a puller on it and I bet it comes off in a matter of seconds.

Also, good call on not using the fork.
