i hear you got some power folding mirrors you're going to try and put on the taco.. when you do, please share what you got and needed to do.. I really need to do that. it sucks getting out to fold passenger side mirrors in to fit in the garage!

I have them installed already. I searched yahoo japan auctions for almost 2 years to find an affordable set of power folding Hilux Surf Mirrors. I then had to take the internals out and swap into my 4Runner mirrors because the Hilux Surf is Right Hand Drive and the mirror mounts are angled differently. This also made it so that the passenger mirror would fold into the window glass. I had to add a small screw internally to prevent it from folding too far.

I can't remember exactly, but it was around $150 shipped to the US. Keep in mind I watched yahoo japan auctions in japanese for nearly 2 years to find an affordable set.

This wasn't that recent, but I was able to get 2 Thule Hullavators on my prinsu rack (barely) and went kayaking and camping at Guadalupe River State Park.
This is why I build the internal cap frame. Each Hullavator setup weighs ~40lbs, each kayak is ~50lbs. So that's close to 200lbs up top acting like a big sail. The hullavators are amazing for loading and unloading though.

How's the handling on turns with 200 lbs up that high on a mid rise topper?

Well my OEM replacement alternator installed in 2018 is already failing. It's crazy to think that the original one lasted 18 years, and now the replacement only lasted 3.

I decided I might as well upgrade since I can actually plan it out this time.

I found a few threads mentioning swapping a 1993-1997 Jaguar XJ6 4.0L (non-supercharged) alternator onto the 3RZ. It is apparently a direct bolt on, wiring is the only thing that needs to be modified. This is a 120A alternator, the stock one is 70A.

    It is a Denso 210-0406: https://amzn.to/3XDFLcd
    Female Jag Alternator plug: https://amzn.to/3Ek06N7
    Male Toyota Alt plug: https://amzn.to/3Z3VdiO
    120A Alt Fuse: https://amzn.to/3ScswOP

I plan on running 4ga wiring from the Alt to the fuse box and replacing the existing cable and 80a fusible link with 120a version.

I followed a couple of threads on here, I'm having trouble finding them at the moment.

    Here's a parts list:

    Alternator: https://amzn.to/3YVPhZg
4ga wire from alt to fuse box: https://amzn.to/3Z0Z0NX
4ga wire from fuse box to battery: https://amzn.to/3YSvxWy
    120a fuse: https://amzn.to/3lFzCil
connector for truck side alt plug: https://amzn.to/3S8TYg4
    connector for jag alt: https://amzn.to/3xyYcV6

The alternator bolts in, it is larger so it's a little tricky to wiggle it past power steering lines, etc.
You have to move the adjuster all the way loose, but the stock belt works.
You have to make an adapter harness for the 3 wire plug.

I decided to run new cables through the fuse box. This was honestly way easier than I was expecting. It is not hard at all to separate the box and remove the whole starter/alternator wiring harness. I just removed the old 8ga wire and put in the new 4ga. 3ft is spot on to the stock length.

UPDATE: @gusto11071 was able to find a 120 denso alt that bolts in and does not require a wiring adapter, it just needs a new pulley. More info here:

    Awesome thanks.
I'll be doing this sometime in the future and there's not much documentation on it for the 3rz.
Is the wiring of the adapter harness pretty straightforward? I've never really touched my alt so I'm not familiar with the wiring.

There are 3 wires to match up, S L and IG. S is your white sense wire, this goes to the middle pin on the new alt. L and G go to either side, whenever I find the post I was following I'll post a link here. The person specifies where each wire goes.
