Within Browns camp, what all do we need to be carrying?

    I have a come-along, snatch strap, 2 3/4" D-Rings, and a couple 2 way radios.

I do not have a CB, which I'd rather not get.

    Check these out http://www.engousa.com/home/index/5150.0
Four wheel mag did a test with a bunch of different winches and these came out on top.
Plus the owner lives in Long Beach WA so you can drive up and get it.

I might make it. I know all the trails very well. Even Crushers (or at least the side of my truck knows Crushers).

It would be nice to get a list. Then we can do a little research prior to going, to see who all can make the trail and who won't be able to/want to attempt

I don't think anyone's going to get pressured into doing something they are not comfortable with... I need my truck to get me to school everyday so i can't go crazy either.

Hey y'all... I'm rather new to this forum. But I live out in clackamas and would be interested in going out there for some wheeling. The thing is is I'm stock now aside from some sliders. I am getting my 5100s, eibach coil, and rear aal in this week but haven't ordered my uca yet. So unfortunately I wont be able to make this one I don't think.

Are there typically runs/meets throughout the year?

Usually, someone tries to organize something. Over the past 2 months, I know of 3 meets have been planned.

Where did you get your lift from?

Don't forget to get more maps at the Shell station

I've looked on several occasions. Much of a fan as I am of their other stuff, they don't have anything rated for our vehicles and don't have anything worth getting, except for possibly their winches. An offroad mag did a review, and while they were horribly slow, the HF gear did survive. I'd go this route for those who do light offroading and expect other vehicles to be able to help. A step up would be a Smittybuilt, then look at entry level SuperWinch. Just make sure it's rated high enough to cover you. Consider your wet vehicle weight and multiply by 1.5 to get a rough estimate.

    some considerations I had:
-WARN has the biggest list of distributors and repair centers.
-SuperWinch is comparative to WARN, but with lower costs... and comes with synthetic line right out the box!

Tow strap or recovery strap? They serve different purposes, FYI

It is always best to be over-prepared ;)
The come-along can be nice for moving stuff out of the way, like downed logs or such, but it's not going to help with a vehicle unless it's mad beefy. I have an 8,000lbs Harbor one and no way can I crank that by hand to move my truck. For TSF, I don't think you'd ever use it.
D-rings are always needed, they are the key ingredient usually.
2 way radios won't get you much. The reason for a CB is the added distance. Most likely the group will put you in the middle and you will be 'trail deaf'. Best advice is to use your horn (3 short beeps, whatever), or just come to a stop and wait for assistance. Make sure the guy behind you can come to a safe stop!

Other easy-to-get recovery gear is a good spade-shaped shovel, carpet/blanket/etc (works as a traction pad or something to lie on), and gloves.

It's the VR series. I'm not sure on the price, but it would be interesting to see. I recommend gowarn.com, they had the best prices for me.

    It's Cedar Tree.

It's not a bad idea, but overall, you can tell what the trail will be like from walking the first 100 feet or so. Really bad parts will have bypasses. 04LTTacoma, and snowgod should be able to tell you. Bill Wright is an excellent guy, but if I had to nitpick, he's the kind of guy that won't tell you no. He's more the type that will give you a general idea and then step out of the way for you to make up your own mind... me personally, there's a time when I will say "watch first".

The sliders should be enough for you to be just fine. I'd go unless you were doing the work on the weekend.

this is probably the last good run of the year before you have to get leery about snow. It's going to be muddy as hell, so I would recommend driving the trails in from the south (or whichever way goes uphill). Archer's going downhill can be a bit of a slip n' slide that the new guys won't appreciate; going up will be a good challenge without too much problem.

Not sure if I can make this one... I've been going all-out at work and this is the first night I've had time to relax - still got home at 8!

I'm down in TSF for some private training this weekend, and getting to TSF takes longer these days... snowgod, I feel ya buddy.
However, that's a good group going! I'll see what I can do.

I am thinking fire break five, hogs back, down rocky uphill then finish on archers. All doable in stock trucks but with options for easier or harder.

Yeah I wouldn't mind going back as well with all the snow gone. Probably will still be slick from all the mud if the rain continues.

Sounds good to me! Ahh..good ol hogs back..I think that was the first trail that I really got scared on going down and having the 2 rear tires lift off the ground

Which trail is the one with the famous fallen tree where you can drive under it?
