From my track days, I’ve grown accustomed to being closer to the dash. I just get better leverage on the wheel. It’s crazy out there! :)

Ok, i agree it would be risky to buy anything with no test drive....my dealer gets mt in stock, i call and put my deposit down .upon arrival,.i will then testdrive the living F out of it.....im sure i will have salesman with me, he gonna say "we can go back to dealership now", im gonna tell him we gonna be a while....we gonna drive that manual every wichway we can, i gonna find steep incline and we gonna test Reverse, and see just how tall that reverse gear is!!
And test everything else out, of course....

Take a look at older pickups and see how close they sat to the wheel as well. I'm basically sprawled out in my Tacoma compared to a 1970's F100.

    A little advise …
Don’t make a problem until you really have one
Believe 1/2 of what you read
Opinions are like assholes everyone has one
I have a 2019 TRDOR auto and I don’t even have the power seat from back then. All the complaints on here I don’t have . I really love the truck and I have not had one single problem . Even with all the complaints about the auto trans , it shifted a little wonky maybe for the first 2000 miles here and there , but now it shifts totally fine . There is a reason why Toyota sells a boat load of these .

.....thx for advice, and i agree with u...the only thing that bugs me is the "flap" under intake manifold that sometimes breaks(i forgpt what its even called), oh and the tall reverse gear(some foks tend to exagerate)...i had a '97 dodgeram mt w/5.2 and it had major granny gear in first gear, i loved it, it turned into rust bucket.......but i bought new 2015 f150 4x4, still own it and love it, the tacoma will be my weekend truck and f150 my weekday beater.....

Not familiar with this "flap" you're referring to. I imagine you'll get used to whatever gearing it has. Can't say my reverse is any taller than any other vehicle I've had but then again, I don't have a MT.

It's easy to go to a forum, where everyone brings their problems, and be convinced you will have the same things. Hell, one time I convinced myself I needed new radiator mounts due to a clunking in the front. The noise turned out to just be the electronic box to my LEDs hanging down and just needed to be secured. Luckily I was able to cancel my order.

I think op Is referring to the flap under the intake manifold . There has been some people that the hinge area broke off and them the intake has to be removed and replaced . But like anything mechanical , stuff happens or not . I don’t worry about those kind of things . If I can make one more suggestion , after you buy the truck buy the extended warranty if you feel un easy about things . If you do decide to make sure you beat the dealer up very harshly . One more thing / remember you can buy the warranty afterwards . There are people on here that have hook ups for that too, at a very low rate . Only you know the type of person you are. Then you can rest easy .
    Just a thought

I once owned a 1973 Datsun pickup. Every time I got seated to drive that little truck, it felt like my face was planted against the windshield. The truck must of been built for midgets.

.......YES Truckguy63 its the "broken flap intake manifold." That makes me sickly.......you folks spot on, i tend to focus on the "problems" folks report on This forum, and i tend to focus on them, afterall these should not occur on a. Toyota, but i get it, stuff happens and the few times it happens, folks run here and post them, they either want to seek advice or outrite make up an issue to 'dis' toyota....out of 100,000 trucks, we hear bout the 10 who have issues(roughly).....im good with the factory warranty til it runs out, then i will and should seek ext.warranty....except extended warranrtys have loopholes like "you didnt have dealership change your oil on such and such, so we cant honor your ext.warranty" these ext.warranty companys pull stuff like that(sometimes)....i probly still gonna get one(ext.war).

I got my truck without test driving it, in fact I bought my truck without even knowing what color Luna rock was.

Sounds like you got a great truck, go buy some cool shit to add to it and stop reading about the problems, it’s a brand new truck you’ll be good.

Heh, good to see I'm not the only crazy one. I never owned a Toyota, never test drove or even sat in any Tacoma in my life.

But I bought one and waited 5 months for it, then had it delivered to my house.

And I love the damn thing!

The same for me, but this Taco steering wheel is still too low. It would be nice to tilt it up another half to full inch.

My TRD off road has tilt and telescope and electric adjustment. I m particular with seat and steering wheel position and my Taco is fine for me. What I think is crazy is all the people (usually young) who think the head restraint is a "head rest". They sit in their seats like they're watching a tv or computer in a LAZboy recliner. Dumb.

I have explained to people why their head rest is so F'n uncomfortable in their new car, and usually finish with "it can't be more uncomfortable than whiplash, or even a broken neck"
