Going over speed bumps at 50 mph or so, the front end with Wheelers Superbumps is noticeably less harsh than the rear end with Timbrens. I carry no weight in the back except for a tri-fold tonneau cover.

So yeah, small thread revival. What's the thickness of the u bolts used in the timbren u bolt kit? I was thinking 1/2in but I just want to double check.

Nice write up. These seem a little expensive to me for what they are.... Maybe its just me

that’s what I thought at first as well but after having these for over a year I have to say to have a quality product that had the proper RnD plus it’s a u bolt flip kit all in one it was worth it and a win win imo. Plus it’s much cheaper than hydraulic bump stops. Also it depends on application. I do light off road but wanted added protection, if you tow or carry loads air bags may be a better option. Heavy application fox, king, icon etc for strut versions. At the end of the day do what works neat for you but don’t risk performance/protection for just a small amount of money. A bent frame will make the cost of these seem like pennies.

    Nice write-up!
I installed Timbrens on the rear end of my 2016 off-road to help with towing our travel trailer and prevent premature shock wear.
They are awesome when the truck is loaded, especially with the trailer hooked-up. They prevent sag, and smooth out the ride considerably. The down side for me is the noticeably harsher ride when unloaded. I followed the Timbren recommendation and purchased the tortun 4 bumps, although they seem a bit too tall. There's about an inch of gap between the bumps and the frame, which closes quickly going over bumps translating to the harsh unloaded ride. I wish they were slightly shorter.
No worries, though... They're easy to remove and re-install, so I just install in the spring for the camping season, and replace the stock bumps in the fall when we park the camper for the winter.

Anyone can compare the Sumo #SSR 610-40/47 with the ABSTRFK ? I want something that can absorb and contain the energy. I don't want flashback from my 1st gen!!
