I'm planning to replace the OEM Bumpstops for my 2022 Tacoma. Timbren Active Off-Road Rear Bumpstops or SumoSpring Rear? Any suggestions

    welcome

I'd also list specs of your lift (if you have one) and what your intended goal is (off roading, hauling, etc).

To make things worse, I went with Duro Bump stops, but I have RXT Stage 3, so I am not anywhere near them, which is what I wanted,,, I wanted the springs to suspend the truck and not rely on riding off bumps.

I have the Sumo Spring (blue) and they are very functional with a load on and unnoticeable when empty. The only concern I have is when winter comes…

Blue Sumo's here. Great for hauling firewood. They do feel a little harder in the winter but not a problem for me. Easy to install.

To be fair, I live in Northern Saskatchewan and can expect temperatures to get below -40f.

I live at 6,900 ft. in Arizona, so we get cold but not that cold. Usually, not colder than single digits.

Thank you great feedback. As for lifting, nothing special other than level lift for 285/70R17 KM3.

Do you already have a weight distribution hitch?

Is that trailer 5800 pounds dry?

Any pics of truck so we know if it's modded at all, and also how it sits hooked up to the trailer?

Do Sumo Springs reduce your off road flex and stuff?

Only experienced with sumo- stock truck with just a canopy on sagged my leafs in a year at least 1.5”. Put on a progressive add a leaf just to bring me back close to stock height (was slightly more) then added the sumos- they are progressive so there not just a bump stop. You want the truck to be on them when loaded (I believe .5”-1” is the max gap suggested unloaded but at the same time they on there own are not supposed to lift the rear and if they gave you a raise you bought the wrong one. Before 3rd gen specific was developed users where installing gen2 which is taller) that’s what they are supposed to do and it will limit or cancel out any sag… and by doing that I would assume also extending the life of your leafs. I don’t plan on a lift so this was exactly the ticket- stock height, no sagging, extended life of parts.

I also have the front sumos and they are great. These will make contact at all times and it softens the road for me, going over speed bumps etc

IMG_4638.jpg My trailer is about 5100 loaded for camping. I use Roadmaster active suspension. Works great no temperature issues and no real maintenance other than a car wash. Have DCLB.

I have Sumo blues. On my stock sagging springs with no load, over one really harsh bump(ie pavement meeting dirty road) I could feel them contact and I didn't love that feeling. They DID help a lot with a loaded bed as they work as intended, kind of like a bandaid as was mentioned above. I now have a HD 3 leaf replacement that gave me a 1.5" lift and haven't felt the bumpstops contact the frame since. Even with an ATV in the bed. I haven't had a chance to pull a fully loaded trailer yet to see just how close they will come. Be sure to get the correct color for your application. I believe the stiffer ones are the black color?
