I run Napa AAA-rated batteries in the vehicles since Napa is 1 mile away, I get a good discount with Napa and the AAA rebate, and the AAA-rated batteries have a 3-year replacement.

Well, tested my battery today. After sitting for 3 hours or so it’s reading 12.28. She won’t make it this winter, we are expecting -20c next week.

Heading to my fav store Costco for a new battery pretty soon here. :)

OEM lasted almost 6 years, good job.

Some last a couple of years, some are lasting way longer. I replaced my 5 yr old battery last Oct not because I had to but I thought that 5 yrs and 70k km was enough to ask of the original. Gets mighty cold around these parts in the winter and hot in the summer. Expecting to replace again in 2028 :).

Be careful not to use an old school carbon pile load tester in some cases. Modern testers such as Midtronics measure internal battery impedence to gauge internal battery health as opposed to load testing

Test it with a voltmeter, or multimeter. Whatever they are called.

I’d like to thank everyone for their input. As some of you may have suspected, the point of my post was to show the consistency, or lack thereof, and longevity of a stock battery. Another 3G basic issue we will never get to grasp

I just changed my OEM battery last September (98,000 miles). It didn't quit on me entirely but when you feel it's turning the motor at a slower pace, it's time to go. I'd say I got my money's worth.

I still have my stock battery after 1 year and 6k miles, so I'll probably replace the battery when I do my first oil change in 10 years or 60k miles, whichever comes first. Might need just new front tires by then too. Expensive truck, probably should have got something more reliable.

NAPA batteries are good. Especially the Legend of which I had for seven years before it finally had to be replaced. The warranty was for 7 years and 4 year replacement so I think I did good.

6 years with the OEM. I wasn’t pushing for a record, even though I believe it could have. I just kept thinking how much I enjoy being in the desert/mountains.…I switched it for another OEM.

Well, I just checked the OEM battery. 11.2 resting voltage, drops to 9.0 when cranking. Guess I'll take a spin to find a new battery for it. The motor still spins smartly when starting it, even at mid 30 degree's.

I have an old motorcycle battery I'll use for the core charge on the new 'Taco battery. I'm going to keep the OEM one for other purposes.

Ok sucked into this battery thread. Rarely does a battery last more than 6 years. Why not just go to Costco and get a new one every 4 and be done with it? If you buy batteries for 80 years of your life (live to 100, start buying batteries at 20), that is the difference between buying 20 batteries over your lifetime vs buying 14. 6 more batteries*120=$720. Is it worth it to you to spend $720 over the course of your entire life to never have a battery age out at an inconvenient time?

Costco, Napa, Wal Mart, they all have their pros and cons (price, ease of warranty exchange, hours open such as 5pm on Xmas eve), but they all have consistent quality batteries. Pick your poison.

Been asking myself the same thing. Battery is still stock from 2016 and definitely noticing a slight delay in turn on colder mornings. Guess I’ll replace today so I’m not left stranded.

I've never bought a battery for the Tacoma. To be fair. It was replaced for free with the frame back in 2015 when the factory one was 10 years old.

Replaced my original one after 3 1/2 years and 60k miles. Never a sign it needed it, but the Arizona heat kills batteries and there is never a convenient time for them to crap out. Went with Interstate, zero issues.
