If that battery lasted that long why don’t you just replace it with the same one?

Oh ye ever faithful 'Taco OEM battery.. what shall I do with thee?

    upload_2024-1-7_14-52-5.jpg

I stopped at Costco first and looked at their Interstate batteries. Was going to buy one and then I noticed that they looked like they were charged to death. 11/23 sticker on them, but the acid under the cell plates had oozed out. So I decided to go to Wally World and just get a sealed battery. 12.58 resting voltage on all of the 01/24 stickered batteries (took my multimeter with me). Good enough.

Will take the 'Taco for a nice drive this afternoon to top it off.

I’m gonna keep my OEM to run my diesel hater. OEM battery reads 12.4 now so I think she is still ok for my heater.

I should put my old battery on a charger though.

Off topic, but I finally wanted to see if my truck fits in my garage. Barely… Gotta back in at an angle and do like a 5 point turn.

Im glad I’m able to squeeze it in cuz starting the truck in -30-40C is not the greatest.

I guess for us car guys picking the good batteries is like picking produce. I have noticed some brown leaves on batteries at every place I have gone. Usually 24F is a common enough size that there are plenty and one with a fresh date code is right there or on the back of the shelf.

I was at Wal Mart today and noticed a good supply of 24F but suprisingly they had an older H8 on the shelf with a 'made in china' sticker on it. Sometimes at Costco they have H7s and H8s. Also hard to find a 34/78 DT any more.

If I lived in a warmer climate, I’m sure my battery would have easily lasted till summer.
