So I have a 95 4cyl 4x4 regular cab Tacoma with 111k on it. The stock suspension is getting pretty bad, flat rear leafs, with blown shocks. The front is not to bad, but I would I would like to replace/up grade it as I am in the process of going through the truck.

I am considering lifting it about an inch or staying stock, I would like to have some better quality shocks on all 4 corners and leaf springs in the rear that can handle a bit more weight. My goal would be just better riding truck on/off road.

I am a bit of a noob in the suspension department but here was what I was contemplating:

Wheelers 5 leaf leaf pack, with bilsten 5100s all the way around. Additionally I would be purchasing new u bolts and other hardware to all the old rusted stuff that may break during the install.

Here are the questions I have:

    1. What kind of ride characteristic would be expected out of this set up vs a new stock suspension?
    2. With the 5100's would you re use your front coil spring or get something different?
    3. Going up an 1'' do I need to worry about anything else? extended rear brakeline? driveline angles?
    4. What size tire could I fit w/out rubbing?

Additionally if you have any suggestions for feel free to chime in. I'm basically trying to decide if I think spending the extra money will be worth it in the handling/ride quality department. I would like somting that handles a bit better on wash board gravel roads along with big city pot holes lol.

5100s can be adjusted only if you stick with your factory springs. If you go aftermarket springs you want to keep the front shocks set to 0" (the springs will give you the lift).

That said, if all you're looking for is 1" of lift then I'd stick with the stock springs and adjust the 5100s to .85 or 1.25(?) and you'd be set on the front. Most aftermarket springs I've been looking at will raise your front end anywhere from 2 to 3 inches, probably closer to 3 for you since you have a 4cyl regular cab (much lighter in the front).

That 5 leaf pack is likely to give you close to 3" in the rear so you may want to consider doing 2" or so in the front so it sits closer to level, unless you want the back end to be higher.
