Time for new wheels and tires package, need advise

Time for new tires and considering getting a package wheels and tires running stock P265/70R16 6 lugs right now. Considering moving up to 17's but seems that i would need to do some cutting/trimming to avoid some rubbing and is a lift kid necessary if i bump up to 17's.
If you have made this move how complicated is the customization needed. if i do consider a lift kit it may only be 1-2" any advise and recommendation welcomed.
