I think this thread shows that there is probably a bigger ¨war¨ agains tacoma on this site than on TFL.

Sure thing sport. Finally something you are right about. I’m trying to type quipped responses on my phone between errands and have much better things to do than waste my time with you.

Honestly, stop being fanboys, and look at what the other brands offer.

If you're someone who is just going to buy another vehicle in 3-5 years, the Tacoma is a bad deal. It simply is. The Tacoma is under powered, very uncomfortable for taller people, does not offer the same off-road capability as the some of the other competitors, and it has the bottom tier infotainment system, and the bottom tier overall interior.

It doesn't have the best tires. It doesn't have the best suspension. It doesn't have the best specs at all when compared to the competitors.

It's not just TFL. A large majority of auto journalists do not give the Tacoma a good rating. Why should they? They only get to drive the truck for a limited time. If they drive all the mid-size trucks for a limited time only, the Tacoma will not give the best impression.

I test drove a Ranger recently and the power train was way better.

If anything, blame Toyota for the ratings that they get.

That's the latestandgreatest attitude. Nothing wrong with that, I like new tech. True that Toyota hasn't updated their SUV line for many years. OTOH, we bought a used 2019 Sequioa 4WD SR5 last week and that thing is awesome with the ancient 5.7l and 6-spd auto, Torsen center diff, independent rear suspension, 9.5" ground clearance, tows 7000lbs. Reviews all tended toward a Tahoe for mostly the prettier interior, better plastics, 2mpg better, consensus was the Sequioa is "outdated". F that, it's an old design but still tops a Tahoe. 9.5" stock ground clearance vs 8" is a big deal.

People are just having some fun with it. It’s a good ‘ol chin-wag about trucks ‘n stuff. It’s what these times need.

Majority is correct. I did mention that I have a group of friends that I do 4wheeling trips with. They are the reason a got my taco. We have I guys in our group. Three have tacos and the others have Rubicon, 4runners and one new Cherokee trailhawk. One of the guys has two tacos, one for work that he got new in 2016. It has well over 200k miles on it. No one has had any mechanical issues. No warranty issues nothing. Mine has been around 4 years, not one warranty issue, no problems, etc. Just met another Taco off roader the other day. His is a 2016 he got new. No one problem. Cool looking orange truck. One buddy of mine got a 2017 pro and has had a SC since nearly day one. No issues there either.

I feel bad for you and the problems, but it is just not the norm. Again, Majority of trucks with no problem is correct. I can see you being bitter and it certainly comes out in your posts. But it's understandable

I have zero issues and mine was made in Mexico. Based on unions vs forced labor, I would say my truck is better than yours:D

Yes, starting with the snobs who think the older versions are better. :D

Then there is the Tundra, quite possibly the ugliest full size truck on the market. Tied with Chevy I guess.:D

For me the issue is reliability. Reliability and mechanical soundness trumps everything else - including the latest cool tech gadgets. That’s where a lot of people get confused as to what is “better”. The auto industry geeks who do these YouTube vids and write articles get caught up in that too and that’s why you will often see Toyota come in below other brands who everyone knows is producing turds.

But the turd has cool high tech gadgets and is real shiny and stylish so they proclaim it “better”. Nevermind that the turd will probably be spending an inordinate amount of time back at the dealer for warranty work and look like shit in a few years time when the buttons and door handles and the entire inside is basically falling apart.

Maybe to some who don’t keep their vehicles very long, that may not matter so much. I tend to keep my vehicles for a very long time so that is why I stick with Toyota. Almost without exception my entire family and friends do as well.

I disagree. I think Tundra is one the best looking.

C’mon man! I loved my Tundra! Bought it brand spanking new in December of 2008 until I traded it in for my Taco in February of 2019. Looked almost as good the day I traded it in as the day I bought it. Gorgeous truck! Dealer couldn’t keep it on the lot either went back a couple days later and it was gone. Here it is the day I trade it in.
