We'll I am going to do my timing belt on my 3.4 it has 229k miles on the original belt. Thought I may as well do it and the water pump. I will be doing it my self. Now the questions I have are.....
    1. Since I haven't done my belt before what should I all replace while I'm in there.
    2. Can someone link me a complete kit that would work well for me.
    3. My belt being so old and miles up is there a chance I could be slightly out of time. I'm battling a cyl 1 miss fire (pending) and have tried everything. Wondering if timing has something to do with it.

    Thanks

Any info and advice would be great

    What year?
    #3 is unlikely the case.
Just me, but if I have all that apart, I would do timing belt, OEM thermostat, Waterpump, the 3 ribbed belts, radiator hoses. Probably the idler pulley as well. It has gone round millions of times, and it is right there in front of you.

My truck has a cylinder 1 missfire but it's pending but if I'm hard on my truck in 4wd the check engine light comes on and say. Cyl 1 missfire confirmed

I understand, but can't see how an old timing belt can cause a misfire in any single cylinder. I'm sure others will weigh in.

I agree. I'm so baffled on the missfire though I don't know where else to look

Have you pulled the plug to look for a crack?
Have you changed the plug coil to another cylinder to see if the misfire moves?

Some of this Some of that
Rockauto has the asin kit which I believe is what came equipped originally with the engine, for a lot less than the dealer. I'd go for that one

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the two AISIN timing kits on rockauto's site?
