I have 105,000 miles on my 2010 4x4 quad cab. Any recommendations on a new set of shocks.
    Or go with OEM replacement?

The crowd favorite seems to be 5100's. That is what I will probably get as soon as mine are shot.

im buying a set of 2016 trd rear shocks with 2500 km on them for 50$ in canada. this is less than the cost of one new shock up here where i live!

i checked online and slso with the dealer and 2016 shocks fit second gens.

so thats an option. i see loads of guys buying the trd then putting lift kits on. cheap and new shocks abound.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
new TRD take offs are great, but not sure if valving is the same between 2nd and 3rd gen. I would think the rear are identical though.

Replaced mine last week with a pair of take-offs. Cheap and easy. Replaced front struts and springs today with a pair off a 2015. Alignment was done an hour ago. Rides and drives like new again! 2011 DCLB 4x4 Sport. All shocks/struts were off an Off Road model.

I am confirming that the 2016 blue and black Hitachi rear shocks will fit on a 2006 as a direct bolt on and all sizes are exactly the same.

further to my post 7 , the shocks feel more or less the same as the 2012 shocks i put on last time.

neither of my top nuts would spin off while holding the top with a vice grip (i did not have a 5mm wrench). both were completly seized.

i used a propane torch and got them so hot the rubber bushing ignited. whoops.

the only way for me to do it was as shown in the attached picture. and even then i had to work the nut off similar to if i was cutting threads with a die! little forward, little back, little fwd, little back. all the while putting penetrating oil on.

one of my cheap arse vice grips wouldnt hold it. i had to use 3!
