The '04 should be the same.

I am right down the road from you. When are you planning on doing it? I might be able to come up for a bit to help out.

Probably a few months from now, definitely July at the earliest. Figure I could buy the parts now just in case though.

That would be awesome if you wanted to come give me a hand. I can provide beers at the least for your time. I'll PM you when I'm actually getting close to doing it.

Absolutely. I look forward to it. I also made the crank pulley holding tool that you can use for the reassembly. Might as well get another use out of it.

At 96k my water pump looked like brand new. The bearing was still solid and smooth.

Might not be your water pump. About 2 years ago, my truck was losing coolant and you could smell it from time to time. Never dripped anywhere and the water pump was not leaking. After several months on a cool day parked up hill, I noticed something dripping under the back of the engine. I opened up the hood and saw I had coolant leaking down the back side of the engine from the intake. There is an open cavity under the intake. I guess my gasket let loose so that the coolant was filling up the cavity. It finally got full enough to leak out the back of the intake when parked on a hill. Got it fixed under the extended warranty. They thought my fan clutch wasn't locking up enough, causing the Taco to run hotter, and eventually causing the leak. The tore the engine apart to clean all the crap out, replaced the fan clutch, and did my timing belt at the same time. Dealer said they hadn't seen one leak like that, but it was now something they would watch for.

    Lots of lil stuff
So much false information online..... Aisin is an OE component manufacturer. They do not make belts they purchase cheap retail belts. But there compnents are great. Dayco to is an OE supplier but they dont always sell the same product in the Aftermarket as in OE and saying that they are the OE is only partially accurate. They are typically the 3rd to 4th in terms of global OE business, depending on what product your discussing. 4th is a very small fraction compared to other manufacturers.

Also, buying a "cheap" timing kit is just dumb. Its a critical part to you motor..... Definently do the full job, tensioner, idler, water pump.
