Timing Belt Replacement - Maintenance Item?

    I have not done this yet but there is suppose to be a hole where you can insert a bolt to lock that tensioner in the de-tensioned position while you're putting the new belt on, making the final part of the process quite a bit easier getting that belt over the tensioner without needing three hands to do it.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
    I changed mine about a year ago… 7 years, 80k+ miles, Florida heat. Don’t need a break down over a $60 oem belt. YMMY.

    Yep, pretty easy, just did my 2017 tacoma at 70,000 miles. Doesnt look like it needed it, but did it anyway. Looking for the best pulley to start from, Worked from the bottom pulley up, think the last one you want to put the belt on is the small pulley on the alternator, that worked out good for me

    If the old belt is not trash I always store it behind the rear seat for emergencies. Never know when shit happens to you or a buddy.
