    You can use a normal leveler, just have to take intake off. No you can't take engine and trans out together.

    For 1GR-FE, since engine hangers are impossible to find I use these clips, each is rated for 1000lbs, at home depo, about $15 each. 1GR-FE weighs about 500lbs give or take. IMAG0076.jpg IMAG0080.jpg 3 go on the holes on the block, the one on the left front, you have to use a bolt and washer. (sorry the pics aren't great, only engine I have in the shop is strapped down, but you get the idea)

    Also, using clips, you can adjust the height on the leveler by which link of the chain you clip on to.

    Hope all is well and the broken bolt situation is fixed. You'll want to change your oil a bit earlier than usual this first time, all the new metal parts are wearing-in and will kick off metal that you want gone. I'd stick with Pennzoil High Mileage in either synthetic or conventional as budget allows. Both have a high dose of molybdenum disulphide and other anti-wear additives that will help your new chains live a long life.

    A little reading on the role of moly in minimizing timing chain wear: https://www.stle.org/images/pdf/STL.... Esche_The Role Additive Chemistry Plays.pdf

    @craigs1
    I came across this thread looking for some pictures of a stretched timing chain, and all that aside... man I don't know what you do for a living, but you should be writing technical manuals for Boeing. The degree of clarity, logic and precision in your posts is incredible sir. I cannot tell you how impressed I was reading your posts. Hats off to ya.

    I went to a local Toyota parts counter to buy and was told the hangers are available only to in house techs.

    Man. I've been doing it the hard way the whole time. Ratchet straps hooks through the holes at the opposing corners of the block, and pull it out. Fail.
