    My truck:
    2002 Tacoma, extended cab, 2rzfe, 4 cylinder, manual transmission, 2wh drive, 138,000mi.

By all accounts, my truck is equipped with a timing chain.
There are no funny noises, leaks, vibrations or any other indication that the timing chain is
    ready to explode.

I have the owners manual and the Haynes Repair Manual.

Nowhere do I see a periodic maintenance schedule referencing when I should swap out(preventive maintenance) the timing chain. Timing belts seem to need attention at 60,000-90,000mi.

Can anyone tell me when a timing chain should be swapped/replaced?

    thanks,
    Phil

Timing chains are only replaced once problematic, they don't have a schedule and typically last the life time of the vehicle.

They can stretch, rattle, and break, but its not very common at all.
