Hello. I’m new but yall have helped me tremendously over the years. I have a question for yall:

    2008 Tacoma Prerunner 4.0L

    Short version:

Are y’all able to tell if my timing chain is stretched based on these pics?

Tensioner doesn't look overly extended to me, are you getting timing codes or why do you suspect a stretched chain?

    Yeah codes are:

    p0022 bank 2
    P0035
    P0456
    P2238

I’m changing oil control valves on Thursday, God willing. I’m really hoping that fixes it. It runs fine other than a slight jump every once in a while at about 1500 RPM…not even every drive. Mechanic said timing chain was stretched based on the codes but I’m skeptical. He didn’t actually look, just said that’s what he thought from the codes.

    Any ideas?

The P0022 is often caused by a sticky OCV or plugged OCV Screen

    P0035 isn't a valid code for an 08 Tacoma, maybe you mis-typed?

P0456 is an EVAP leak, check the seal and sealing surface of the gas cap and filler opening as a first step (also Tacoma's don't like aftermarket/locking gas caps).

P2238 is an issue with the B1S1 AFR sensor/circuit.

Thanks, I appreciate it. What are you looking at on the timing chain pic? Is it just the angle of the tensioner?

No we look at how far out the piston is.
