Yes and there is nothing wrong with that. Yes and there is nothing wrong with that. I am actually succeeding at that, however much certified experts might frown on the forsaken earnings. I built a million dollar house like that and fixed several cars. It's a strategy to develop and uphold self-reliance rather than depend on experts/technocrats (in this case hired mechanics), which is the BS society wants you to do. Yeah, it may be good for society but it ain't good for me.I built a million dollar house like that and fixed several cars. I am pretty pleased that the ongoing pandemic is undermining people's trust in experts and stimulating self-reliance. While I am not principally against experts, they act pretty arrogant, seek to ensnare dependence by customers, and seek political power to leach on the rest of us common people.

    AMERICA !!

I get it but from an efficiency standpoint a single thread would keep the same folks engaged and responding vs throwing a pile of breadcrumbs out and seeing if the same ducks are still hungry.

Efficiency is not my goal. I totally agree that, from a financial perspective, it would be a lot more efficient (cheaper, assuming I do something else in the freed up time) to hire a mechanic

However, in my understanding of history, as well as current realities, it has been a great driver of personal "unfreedom".

What keeps encouraging this, call it existential strategy, is that I never majorly f..ed up and in fact have been more please with the outcomes of my work than that of so called "experts"

This is a community of enthusiast trying to make things better and better for the next guy. You're mentality is saying "screw the next guy, help me my way"
Not a fan but you do you.

No, I am actually exactly supporting that mission you stated, by formatting questions that can be used as canonical instruction/manual -- for "the next guy"

making a thread for every question that comes in your head is a reason why there's a million threads about batteries, tires, oil, etc. Any subsequent threads you create I will not be replying, but you're welcome to post as many as you like.

I'm fine with that. What I think you're pissed about is that I am actually succeeding in doing the job as a non-expert, and that sounds like a threat to some people.

I had never said I was pissed, just annoyed. I couldn't care less you are a non-expert, nor if you are succeeding or not. I tried to help in one of the 15 other threads you created but am done now, and you would notice that 99% of the folks are here are non-experts in that regard otherwise they wouldn't even be asking the question.

I understand what you are saying.
But the format you are using, is like following instructions where the steps are in different books, under different section.

It’s not a big deal. The issue that I have is with multiple post on essentially the same “instructions”. It’s hard to keep up with who is asking the question. There are some many different members, it hard remember where we are, and what you have and haven’t done. And even what your are doing.

I too, think you would get better answers if all the information is contained in one thread. That way others can read along and not give advice that’s already been given. It just easier to follow in one thread.

Personally it really doesn’t bother me.
But I will admit, I am often lazy a will neglect to revert to a prior thread to figure out what’s going on.

Getting their free advice is not the same as hiring them for money. I also provide free advice to people who seek to detach themselves from the monopoly of so called "experts" in my field.
