Great reminder to bring in your Taco before time expires for the mega check up. Did it with a Corolla years ago. Dealer had to do the timing change cover and weeping water pump. Gratis thank you Toyota.

Hey appreciate the response. Totally agree it is just bad luck on the unit. Going to do some cleaning and monitor oil loss from there.

It’s really a dumb issue , it’s the fact that the cover is so big and the way it meets up unless the sealant is applied perfectly it could leak later on. The motor itself design wise is superb for longevity. It’s just really a dumb issue . But again overall great motor

Of course he told you that. It’s his job to sell you an extended warranty and that’s how they make a lot of their salary.

If your not losing too much oil between oil changes then I wouldn't worry about it. Just monitor it and check your oil every fill up,only takes a second.

Some people have it leak again after having it fixed.

Goop it up with Permatex sealant like the 2nd gen guys have been doing:

Can be done as a preventative measure when building a performance engine:

I get that, but unfortunately it's so. Toyota isn't what they use to be. They're about a notch better than the rest of those domestic guys. You know who's pretty good now is Hyundai warranting their vehicles.

no doubt toyota has shills on here saying all the wrong things to sully the convos

I had a service manager at a top 5 toyota dealership look me in the eye and say he never once heard of this forum.

Talking to the old dealership I worked at. Hate to dump the unit on them on trade but it can go to auction or fixed by them. I have a front end collision on the car fax so going to try and get any equity left in the truck I can if possible. Still pretty clean and drives fine.
