Still working on this. The brass rail has been bothering me. They aren't shiny in real life.
Been binge watching Hell On Wheels and there has been lots of scenes that are inspiring.
So I have been painting the rail, both sides. Very time consuming.

I think it looks better, The left is painted, the right is still brass.

Holy crap that sounds time consuming, does look much more realistic though.

When you paint, are you being really careful to just paint the sides, or do you wipe the top of the rail every few inches? Either way, holy crap time investment. Looks cool though. Wish I had the patience for such projects.

I paint each side with a really fine brush. The top is not the issue, rubbing alcohol cleans it right off. It's the ballast between the ties that I have to be careful not to paint.

    Finished painting the rails.
I bought a cheap spy cam a few months back, managed to get a few vids out of it and it quit working :( Still takes pics but the video won't play.
Ordered another, because they are cheap, and it has it's own set of issues, like not being able to preview a video, but it did download to Youtube, so cool. Ignore the date stamp, I haven't figured out to just make it go away yet. Ignore the house too.

I don't "play" with them, I operate, run, or display them. But I never play. This is serious bidness. ;)

There is a guy in the neighborhood who cuts down trees, with nothing more than a chainsaw and ropes. Big trees too. Then kind that you normally see taken with a boom truck.
He just finished one last month but I wasn't able to get any pics of it.
I think he's going to take another down. He could also just be trimming it. He's been stringing an awful lot of rope up there the last two days though. If it's coming down, I'll post the progress here.

This guy is right at home in a tree, he did things up in the last one with a running chainsaw that had me saying "oh shit" more than once. Towards the end it was just main trunk and he was shinnying up it and topping it a section at a time, than standing on the top and lowering the chunks down.

He's in the tree in this pic ,2/3rd of the way up, but on the backside. You can see the pole (horizontal stick) he's using to string the rope.
